To do so, you will need to be, or sign-up to be, a member of Planet Auran (this is due to security requirements). Please follow the instructions on the Purchase Page. Q: Can I purchase Bridge It using a fax or mail order form?A: Yes, you can purchase Bridge It via fax or mail order and it will be sent to you. Please follow the instructions and complete the details on this Mail and Fax Order Form. Q: Why does Bridge It only run with NVIDIA video cards?A: Bridge It is a collaboration of three great companies - NVIDIA, Auran and Chronic Logic. As much fun as Bridge It is to play, it is a great technology showcase for NVIDIA and Auran. Bridge It utilizes NVIDIA hardware and the Auran Jet 3D engine to achieve its outstanding visual quality, and that's exactly the way we want gamers to experience it. Q: If I own ATI/Matrox/Intel/XGI graphics card, why can't I play Bridge It?A: Bridge It was developed with NVIDIA hardware in mind As such, it utilizes NVIDIA specific features and graphics extensions. Q: Will Auran's future games require NVIDIA hardware in order to play them?A: Auran works closely with all hardware companies to ensure the Auran Jet engine and all its games run well on all platforms. Auran's current and future games will run on all hardware unless otherwise noted. In addition, Auran's games division focuses on deliverling innovative gameplay and design. Auran relies on its relationships with companies like NVIDIA to help bring its games to the next level. In the case of Bridge It, the game has surpassed intial expectations in terms of graphics quality and the whole Auran team is very proud of it. Q: What role did NVIDIA, Auran and Chronic Logic each play in the development of Bridge It?A: Bridge It is the brainchild of Chronic Logic who designed the original game. Auran's artists and programmers, armed with the Auran Jet engine, worked closely with Chronic Logic to transform the original Bridge Constructor Set into a new gaming experience. NVIDIA joined these two companies and provided its 3D graphics expertise (as well as moral support and the odd beer) and turned Bridge It into one of the most compelling 3D games on the market today. Q: Why does having better graphics matter?A: Gaming is a very visual experience. While gameplay and game design are the cake, graphics are the icing that makes the cake taste even better. In the case of Bridge It, the gameplay was already very solid which allowed NVIDIA and Auran to take the game even further by making it much more of a visual experience. For instance, when you see the earthquake hit and your bridge collapse, the enhanced visuals make the experience just that little bit more.. sweet(?). Q: How is Bridge It different from Bridge Construction Set?Bridge It is a much more graphic-intense version of BCS. While the gameplay in Bridge It and BCS is similar, the intended audience for the two games is slightly different. Bridge It was designed with casual gamers in mind and is designed for gamers of all skill levels. BCS is slightly more flexible and is geared towards the more experienced gamer. Hence, the name Bridge It rather than BCS 2. Q: I have a GeForce 4 Ti, why are the Water Effect and Heat Haze options permanently disabled?A: The water effects and heat haze use features that are only found on the GeForce FX (NV3x chips or better). As such, those features are disabled if you run the game (demo or full) on a GeForce 4 Ti Q: How do I swap bridge files with my friends?A: When you exit a level or use the Save As command, the bridge you are working on is saved in your profile folder. Your profile folder is found at X:\PathToBridgeIt\BridgeIt\Data\Profiles\YourProfileName. In each profile folder you will see folders named after the different levels in the game. The saved bridges are in those folders and are saved with a .level extension. Q: I have an early AMD Athlon, a GeForce 4 Ti, Windows 98SE or Windows ME, DirectX 9.0b and the v45.23 NVIDIA, why does the game run really slowly OR crash after it loads about 10%?A: There is a (thus far) unreproducible bug with this setup. Auran is looking into the problem but until a solution is found, please use slightly earlier drivers if you are having this problem. Drivers are available from www.nvidia.com. Q: I have a GeForce 4 Ti and/or less than 384MB RAM, why does the game run really slowly?A: Some of the textures used in Bridge It are huge and you may be running out of video or system RAM. Try adding the following to your BridgeItOptions.txt file (found in the Bridge It root directory) or the command line after "BridgeIt.exe": -GlobalTextureResolution=1 |
