Trainz Session-Creation Competition

The Trainz team has a long history of collaboration with the third-party developer community and we've seen great things come from this - just take a look at the new routes in our latest product version, Trainz Simulator 2010. I’m sure that everyone has some favourite third-party locomotives and at least one favourite route.

One thing that we don’t see enough of at the current time is new Sessions for the built-in routes. We believe that this is important because a reasonable portion of our user-base just likes to drive - for these people, each new Session is hours of additional game-play. These Sessions aren't restricted to a simple "drive from A to B" - they can be as complex and as non-linear as the creator wishes.

With that in mind, we are pleased to announce the Trainz Session-Creation Competition.

The competition consists of developing a driver session, based on a TS2010 route, which provides the player with a fun experience and demonstrates the capabilities of TS2010. Winners are selected by an N3V-selected panel of judges and prizes are awarded as follows:
  • First place - AUS$1000 cash.
  • Second place - AUS$100 cash plus AUS$100 voucher for the Auran Store.
  • Third place - AUS$50 cash plus AUS$50 voucher for the Auran Store.
Further details will be announced next week on the Trainz Forum.

Jointed Rail

We have many Content Creators developing for our next major Trainz release and Jointed Rail is one of those groups, for a glimpse of what they have in store for all the Trainz fans read on...

Jointedrail.com is currently well underway with construction on Southern Pacific’s famous Mojave subdivision. One of the most spectacular railroading feats lies in this remarkable route. Join us as you take your 8,000ft monster train through some of most interesting railroading on earth.

This route, constructed with Digital Elevation Maps (DEM’s) along with geographical overlays promises to deliver one of the most prototypical routes ever created for TRAINZ. From start to finish this route will be packed with activities and plenty of custom content to keep you busy for hours if not days.

Climb aboard as engineer of the famous "Oil Can Train" and traverse the famous "Tehachapi Loop" while meeting trains along your course. All new signalling virtually eliminates the "cornfield meet" scenario with Jointedrail’s new Smart Signal Technology. There will be over 75 custom made signals specifically for this route, along with new locomotives, rolling stock, and more. From Bakersfield to Mojave, prepare to embark on an epic adventure at one of the most interesting times in modern railroading. The years between 1985-1995 saw some of the most colorful lashups ever to grace the rails. This provides you with endless running scenarios utilizing a vast array of different power and rolling stock combinations. Are you a history buff? No problem, we have a session just for you complete with professionally narrated talking points. Sit back and relax as you learn about the history of the Mojave subdivision and some interesting facts about the line. Like to work? We have a session for you! Take control of the oil can train from Bakersfield yard and navigate your way through all of the twists, turns, and loops the Mojave sub has to offer. Look for more details soon...
