TAURUS
These locomotives are among the most modern electrics currently in service in
Central Europe. Designed by Siemens, the ES 64 U2 or 'TAURUS' Class electric has a top
speed of about 230kph and delivers roughly 10.000 hp. It is currently being issued
to the Austrian Federal railways as classes 1016 (for use in Austria and Germany)
and 1116 (two system electric for Austria, Germany, Hungary, and the AC lines of the Czech
and Slovak Republics).
The TAURUS is also leased by SIEMENS to other companies like HUPAC n Switzerland (plain silver livery)
and KEG in Germany. Germany also plans to acquire these engines as 182 Class. In it's various forms,
The TAURUS Class see service on both high-speed passenger and heavy goods trains.
