Installing RailDriver on Windows98 SE |
| A. | Make sure you have your Windows98 SE Install CD Handy!
- Insert the RailDriver CD into your CD Rom Drive and select "Install RailDriver software” from the menu.
- Once you have restarted your computer after the install (if required), shut down again and plug in the RailDriver to the USB
- Once your computer has restarted, Windows will detect new hardware and start looking for the driver files to install it.
- Windows may ask you to "Insert PIBus Installation disk" – this is your RailDriver install CD, put this in your CD and click "OK". If Windows cannot find the file (PIBus.cat or PIBus.sys) then select your CD drive and point the install window to your RailDriver CD's "Driver" Folder.
- Depending on whether you have had a device like this connected to your machine before, Windows will ask for the Windows Installation or "KbdHid.vxd" install disk to be inserted. This is your Windows CD, insert and click "OK", If Windows fails to find this file then point the install window to your Windows CD "Win98" folder.
If all is successful you will be returned to the desktop.

Error Message "Unable to find the file PIBus.cat or Pibus.sys" |
| A. | This normally occurs during install on Windows98 machines but can occur on later machines too.
Browse your install window to the "Driver" folder on the RailDriver install CD.

Error Message "Unable to find the file KbdHid.vxd or KbdHid.sys" |
| A. | Normally this will ask you to insert your Windows installation disk.
If you insert your Windows installation disk and it gives the same error, you will need to browse the install window to your install disk "Drivers" folder. This location varies for different systems, and may require you to search for it.
In Windows98 it is in the "Win98" folder on the install CD.
These files may also be found on the your computer in the Windows "System" or "System32" Folders. |

Error Message "Incompatible version of RPC stub" occurs during install. |
| A. | This occurs because a WindowsXP driver has been installed onto a Windows98 machine. This can happen by installing software designed for XP/2000 on a 98 machine.
If MS Office 2000 or a component of it is installed then install the Office 2000 Service Release1 Patch from Microsoft.
If MS Office 2000 or a component of it is not installed then download Mcrepair.exe from the Microsoft website.
