Trainz Community Express Archives
19th June 2002
Hi Trainzers,
As promised in the last installment of Community Express, we can now update you with further details on the Trainz promotional initiative. Thanks for the great response to our proposal. With the expressions of interest received it is time to open a new forum area, "Trainz on the Road", for further discussion and to support your efforts in this area. Do you like "Trainz on the Road" as a name for our promotion? Can you think of a better one? Let us know here.
Trainz on the Road
If you are interested in participating in our Trainz on the Road promotion, or even have a few ideas that you would like to contribute please post here.
For starters we would like to hear from anyone interested in participating by demonstrating Trainz at events such as:
- model rail exhibitions
- local club meetings and events
- hobby stores and rail museums
- computer clubs, schools, seniors clubs, etc
- other places where Trainz may have appeal
Please let us know the details of specific events coming up in your area (name of event, location, date, estimated attendance numbers, etc.) by creating a new thread; such as our one for NMRA National Train Show, Fort Lauderdale, July 19-21.
NMRA National Train Show, Fort Lauderdale, July 19-21.
Auran will be demonstrating and promoting Trainz and the new Service Pack 3 upgrade at the National Train Show in Fort Lauderdale. We are looking for keen members of the Trainz community to assist us with the event. Levels of involvement can vary from dropping by to say hello and chatting with stand visitors to actually bringing along your PC and helping us with demonstrating Trainz. If you can make it to Florida please post here and email helpdesk@auran.com.
We are expecting over 20,000 visitors to the show, so the more help we can get the more fun it will be :)
Website in the Spotlight
This week's featured website is Terry Frank's (tafweb) excellent TrainzObjectz. If you're after UK objects to enhance your layouts, from shops and factories to English pubs, Barclays Bank and an Elizabethan Manor house then make sure you visit the site and start downloading. You will also find a few layouts and locos to download as well. A fantastic effort Terry :)
Screenshot of the Week
This week's screenshots feature the high quality creations of landrvr1. If you frequent the screenshotz area of the Trainz forum then you've no doubt seen many of the other great shots contributed by landrvr. This batch are from his latest project: the current cars of the South Shore Line. Stop by the forum and check them out!

The Trainz forum waffle thread of the week "OT, but .... Say ........ did you know" was started by geep and provides some interesting trivia on the infamous hotrod ;)
Community Events
The Halton County Trainz get together, organised by Boco, was held last weekend at the Halton RR Museum. Here's a few photos from the event that Dave sent in.
Take a look at this forum thread for reports of the day. It sounds like the event was throughly enjoyed by all who attended. Congratulations to Boco and Co for organising the get together.
Finally, don't forget to stop by the new Trainz on the Road forum area and let us know what you think. Where would you like to demo Trainz? Are there any train exhibitons coming up in your corner of the world?
Until next week.....
Cheers,
John Banks
